Counselling focuses on finding solutions to problems, and developing greater self understanding and life choices in a supportive atmosphere. Counselling is designed to help you feel more fulfilled and in control of your psychological well being, relationships and life plans and aspirations.
- Recovery counselling with Glynis Sherwood focuses on reclaiming your life from emotional distress and/or addictive behaviour, relationship building, developing healthy coping skills, identifying and meeting your needs, managing stress and anxiety, overcoming grief and loss, and dealing with trauma and abuse.
- Counselling is an investment in the most important person in your life – you. If you are stuck, confused or troubled, statistics show that professional counselling will help you feel better about your life much more easily and quickly than trying to struggle through on your own.
- Counselling usually occurs weekly, or bi-weekly, over several weeks or months. Average length of counselling is 10 to 24 weeks.
- Counselling occurs primarily in person or over the phone. Sometimes brief emails are exchanged between sessions.
- Counselling sessions range from ½ an hour to 2 hours. Average sessions are 50 minutes long for individuals, and 75 minutes for couples or families. During the first meeting I conduct a thorough assessment and help you focus on setting goals so you can be clear about what you want to achieve from counselling.
