About Glynis Sherwood - Recovery Counsellor

Glynis Sherwood, MEd, Mental Health and Addiction Counsellor, Canadian Certified Counsellor, Certified Substance Abuse Counsellor, has a twenty year history helping people overcome addictions, stress, anxiety, abuse, depression, grief and loss, and workplace bullying.  This experience inspired Glynis to create Recovery Counselling Solutions, which offers specialized counselling services designed to help people transcend these life challenges.  ‘Recovery Counselling’ focuses on healing the emotional distress of individuals and their loved ones, and helps restore and strengthen  psychological well being and recovery-related lifestyles.  Recovery Counselling Solutions delivers effective and economical solutions to problems of stress and anxiety, substance abuse and addictive behaviors, abuse and trauma, grief and loss and workplace harassment or bullying.  The philosophy of Recovery Solutions Counselling is that no matter how harmful addiction, anxiety, depression, grief and loss or traumatic events have been in your life, you can recover and live a life of peace and fulfillment.

As founder of Recovery Counselling Solutions, Glynis Sherwood provides counselling, therapy, and coaching at her office in central Vancouver, and across North America by telephone and Internet.  In addition to her private practice, Glynis offers counselling to Employee Assistance Program clients.  In a previous life, Glynis worked for 7 years as an addiction and mental health counsellor and group facilitator in the public health sector.  Prior to this she was an individual and family counsellor with social service agencies.  She has extensive experience counselling college students, and has supervised the professional training of counsellors at universities in Toronto and Vancouver.  Glynis has also led career planning courses and groups at community agencies and educational institutions in British Columbia. 

Glynis was born in Nova Scotia, but grew up all over Canada.  She refers to herself as “a homogenized Canadian”, having grown up with a blend of cultures in urban and rural environments across the country.
