Worry or Sadness running your life and you don’t know what to do?
Counselling for Anxiety or Depression can help restore your peace of mind!
- Are you constantly nervous, worried or on edge?
Being stressed or anxious all the time can make you feel like you can't cope with life's demands. And what's worse is that you may come to believe that you can't stop or control worry. - Do you avoid everyday activities because they make you feel stressed or fearful?
Anxiety can cause you to lose confidence in your ability to participate fully in relationships, work and other activities, making you feel caught in a vicious circle where you can't enjoy life the way you deserve to. - Is it hard to enjoy your life today because you feel anxious about the future or depressed about the past?
Anxiety is a 'fast-forward' emotion or mood state that can convince you that disaster is waiting just around the corner, making it impossible to experience peace and satisfaction in the present.
Depression is the opposite of anxiety - it keeps you stuck in regrets and self criticism, and lacking hope for the present.
Both anxiety and depression prevent you from living in the moment and enjoying life today.
- Do you feel hopeless about life and at a loss about what to do about it?
A depressed mood can make you believe that you have nothing to look forward to, and no means to change that perspective, leaving you caught in a vicious cycle of negative thinking, hopelessness and despair.
If you identify with any of these signs and symptoms - and they just won’t go away – help is here!
Stress & Anxiety
We all know what stress and anxiety feel like. We worry over juggling work, family and financial responsibilities. Our heart pounds before a job interview or first date. We fret about family problems or feel jittery at the prospect of asking for a raise. But if worries and fears are preventing you from living your life the way you'd like to, you may be suffering from chronic stress or anxiety. Anxiety affects 1 in 5 people. The good news is counselling can reduce your stress or anxiety symptoms and help you take back control of your life - and often in a relatively short amount of time - typically 5 to 20 weekly sessions. The specific treatment approach depends on the type of stress or anxiety and its severity. But in general, most anxiety and stress problems are treated with a combination of counselling and coaching strategies, such as cognitive and solution focused therapy, imagery desensitization, relaxation training and life style management approaches.
Stress & Anxiety Counselling can help you:
-
Conquer worry thoughts and fears that lead to anxiety and regain peace of mind
-
Overcome unproductive habits that are creating stress so you can feel relaxed and in control of your life
- Develop strategies for responding to anxiety that help you cope effectively with stressful situations
Depression
Everyone has 'the blues' from time to time. It's that feeling of sadness, low energy, or lack of motivation that makes us not want to get out of bed in the morning. Usually the blues are temporary. But if that sadness intensifies to the point where you feel extremely hopeless and powerless to do anything about it, and life doesn't seem worthwhile, then you may be experiencing depression. Fortunately depression responds well to counselling, particularly counselling that helps you overcome negative beliefs and attitudes that are interfering with your right to enjoy your life.
Depression Counselling can help you:
- Transcend negative thoughts or beliefs so you can feel hopeful and content again
- Take action that will help you break the depression cycle and give you a sense of moving forward in life
- Get through the pain of chronic grief of long term loss, so you can live for today and look forward to the future
Counselling is available In Person, by Phone, Skype or Email Worldwide!

Kristina - Recovery From Anxiety & Depression
"Glynis sensitively and skillfully led me to discover the resources that I needed to heal from anxiety and depression. Incredibly, these resources were hidden within myself. Glynis supported me in quickly discovering the depth and healing power of these inner resources. She always zeroed in on the exact factor that was standing in my way and helped me to move past it. As a direct result of my work with Glynis, I am no longer anxious about going to work in the morning, I am 20 pounds lighter, I have started to go out socially again, and I am actually happy. The changes I’ve experienced have been meaningful, lasting, and profound. I have recommended Glynis to people who I care about."
Panic Anxiety
Sometimes anxiety can escalate into feelings of panic. Symptoms of an anxiety attack include surges of fear about losing control or going crazy, feeling detached or unreal and a variety of physical symptoms such as heart palpitations, chest pain, trouble breathing, shakiness, sweating and nausea. It’s important to seek help if you’re starting to avoid certain situations or places because you’re afraid of having a panic attack. As with other forms of anxiety, panic anxiety is highly treatable with short term counselling.
Phobias
Phobias are characterized by extreme fear reactions to and avoidance of situations or objects that actually pose little or no danger. Examples of phobias include fear of closed-in places, heights, escalators, tunnels, driving, water, flying, dogs/cats, and injuries involving blood. One of the main treatments for phobias is Imagery Desensitization Therapy. Imagery Desensitization is done in the counselling office, and involves imagining a phobic situation in a relaxed state, until the anxiety surrounding the phobia is lowered or completely disappears. Through repeated exposure to the feared object or situation in your imagination you gain a greater sense of control. As you face your fear without being harmed, your anxiety gradually diminishes.
If you require Exposure Therapy - confronting your fears directly in a safe, controlled environment, usually outside the counselling office
- arrangements can be made for either myself or another therapist to assist you.
Counselling for Agoraphobia - fear of leaving your home and going out in public - is available by Phone or Internet, as well as
In-Person in the Vancouver, BC area.
The Link Between Anxiety & Depression
Many people with anxiety also suffer from depression at some point. The psychological wear and tear from constant worry can lead to depression. People suffering from depression can also become anxious from worrying about when or if they will recover. Since anxiety makes depression worse - and vice versa - it’s important to seek counselling for both conditions.
